3 Different Ways To Use Social Media

It's been 4 months since our lives changed due to Covid19 in Canada. In the last 4 months our lifestyles, spending habits, family relationships & time management has all changed. People are using social media & the internet more now than ever before.

Social media is an important and also inexpensive way to increase sales & build brand awareness. How are you using social media? One common mistake I see often is all the posts are SELL SELL SELL. Did you know that in order to build your brand and to have people take on your business as part of their brand identity you need a few other posts.

Here are a few ways to use social media differently that will not only increase your brand but also grow your business- putting money in your pocket.

Build your reputation as an expert in your field.

Customers are more likely to buy from a brand that sounds like/looks like they know what they are talking about. Sharing your own expertise from your experiences as well as posting relevant content will guide your customer to your product. By engaging with your customers in ways that help identify the problem(s) they are facing, you can show them the solution(s). You need to show that you are confident that your product is the BEST way to solve their problem. That you understand your product, you understand the problem, and you have a solution. Be confident, you are the expert!

A few ideas:

  1. Do an online interview

  2. Share a review or post a review of your products

Create a community.

This is an amazing gift you can give your followers. Right now we are in a season where we need to reach out via social media to build community. By using our platforms as ways to build our community we will create a brand that shows it cares.

A few ideas:

  1. Do a shout out post about another business's product on your social media

  2. Host a giveaway

  3. Ask open ended questions

  4. Engage with your followers

Tell a story. A Personal Story.

Do you want to know a secret? People don't want to just see your product- they want to see YOU! I personally want to know who I'm buying from, especially during this time when I want to support local businesses. Get over your camera shyness, practice talking to your audience, take pictures of yourself and your co-workers, decide to share bits and pieces of your life with your followers. This is one of the best ways to build a following & build brand awareness- you can be a bit silly too- people love that! Don't be overly concerned with looking right or saying the right things- know your audience and have fun with it. After all, people LOVE to hear stories.

A few ideas:

  1. Share a personal story

  2. Share an achievement

  3. Share a funny joke (keep it in context & keep it clean)

I hope this has given you some ideas on how to use social media in a different way. I got some of these ideas from a great post from https://bulk.ly/social-media-post-ideas/ . Check it out!
